Anton Demetrakopoulos proudly leads Nurse Next Door Thunder Bay, continuing a legacy of compassionate, community-rooted care first established by founder Suzanne Tighe in 2013. In 2021, Anton took over the franchise with a deep commitment to helping seniors live more joyful, independent lives at home, where they belong.
Anton holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Lakehead University and a Master’s degree in Business from the Schulich School of Business at York University. With a background in business administration and passion for making a difference, he leads the organization with the goal of making lives better. His team is grounded in the belief that aging should be celebrated and that every senior deserves to live life on their own terms.
At the heart of their work is Happier Aging: Nurse Next Door’s philosophy of care that goes beyond basic health needs. It means reconnecting clients with the interests, hobbies, and passions that bring them joy, whether it's baking, gardening, music, or simply good conversation.
Nurse Next Door Thunder Bay offers a full spectrum of home care services tailored to individual needs and preferences: from companionship, housekeeping, and personal care, to live-in and around-the-clock nursing support, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, end-of-life care, respite for family caregivers, and more. Leading the care team is Srikanth Darisi, a dedicated Care Designer who has overseen the development and delivery of personalized Care Plans since 2023. Every caregiver is carefully matched to clients based on not just skill, but personality and shared interests, making each interaction meaningful.
Under Anton’s leadership, the franchise has become deeply integrated in the local community. Since 2021, they have proudly sponsored the Rebecca Johnson Senior of the Year Award, recognizing seniors who continue to make outstanding contributions to Thunder Bay. What if I need to speak to someone after business hours?
Our Care Services Center is open 24/7. Call anytime, and one of our Care Services Specialists will be happy to assist you.
When should we consider 24-hour home care?
Use this list to help you decide if continuous monitoring is something you should consider:
- The person doesn’t sleep through the night (or gets up more than 2-3 times per night).
- The person has difficulty moving around and is at a high risk of falls.
- The person was recently (or is about to be) discharged from the hospital and needs constant monitoring.
- The person’s spouse or relative is exhausted from helping day and night.

How much does Nurse Next Door cost?
Nurse Next Door's services vary in price depending on the level of care required and the Nurse Next Door Care team that services your area. To get a better idea of pricing in your area, speak to one of our Care Services Specialists—we're open any time, 24/7.
We also offer a complimentary Caring Consult™, during which one of our care designers will help you determine the amount of care you may require. We'll then work with you to balance your budget and needs and find a home care option for you.
Can I trial Nurse Next Door or do I have to sign a long-term contract?
You are not locked into a long-term contract as a Nurse Next Door client.
To try out Nurse Next Door, just contact us to book a complimentary, no-obligation Caring Consult™. One of our care designers will visit your home to assess your needs and design a care plan with you, including frequency and duration of care.
Are your home care services only for seniors?
No. We provide home care services to people of all ages. While our specialty is providing Happier Aging® experiences to seniors, we also assist with disability care, post-operative care, and more for children and adults.

Will I have the same Care Team all the time?
At Nurse Next Door, we strive to provide consistent care with regularly assigned caregivers. If your Caregiver isn’t available, we will ensure a suitable replacement that meets your unique needs.
Does Nurse Next Door conduct a background check for Caregivers?
Yes, all Nurse Next Door Caregivers are carefully screened with criminal background checks, vulnerable sector checks and reference checks. We verify our Caregivers' educational credentials upon hire and ensure, on an annual basis, that every Nurse is registered and in good standing with their respective College of Nurses.
